Gizem Karabay Can
Part-Time Instructor
Gizem Karabay Can is an urban designer and landscape architect whose work explores the intersection of landscape systems, urban morphology, and spatial experience. She studied Urban Design and Landscape Architecture at Bilkent University, graduating in 2011, and completed her master's degree in Urban Planning and Policy Design at Politecnico di Milano in 2016. Her master's thesis examined campus sustainability, focusing on the relationship between the morphological characteristics of university campuses and sustainability strategies. Since 2013, she has been actively involved in urban design, landscape architecture, and master planning projects at multiple scales as a co-founder of Goland Urban Design, an interdisciplinary practice engaged in urban and landscape projects in Turkey and internationally. Through this practice, she has contributed to numerous design proposals, master plans, and competition projects, several of which have received national and international awards. Alongside her professional work, she serves as a part-time instructor at Bilkent University, contributing to teaching and academic activities in the field of urban design and landscape architecture.
